Route

A route is the planned course of a network in plan view: a sequence of points and sections from the start to the end of the design, including bends and nodes. The route is the basis for chainage, because distance increases along it and elevations and objects in the longitudinal profile are assigned to it. Every route bend has its chainage and should correspond to a node visible in the profile. Consistency between plan and profile depends on the route: the same section lengths, nodes and chainage. During review, check whether section lengths match station differences and whether node count and order are identical in both views.
