Pipe reach

A pipe reach (German Haltung) is the run of pipe between two adjacent manholes — the basic unit for which length, slope, diameter and material are given. In a longitudinal profile each reach has a fixed invert at its start and end, and the invert line between them is straight with a single slope. The table below the drawing labels each reach with its length and slope, usually tied to the manhole numbers at its ends. When checking a profile, verify that the reach length matches the chainage difference of its nodes and that the slope computed from inverts matches the labelled value.
